About
How ya’ll doing.
My name’s Josh.
I still don’t know exactly what this blog is, but I am thinking that it’s kinda sorta a gateway or headquarters of everything I do on the internet.
The term “Hey! Deaf Kid!” is something my first college roommate yelled at me all the time.
I feel like that embodies what should be an underlining goal of things that I do.
To make people comfortable.
My roommate became so comfortable with me, that he could easily say things like that.
And I didn’t make him uncomfortable or constantly worrisome about accommodating or upsetting me.
When people hear about me, they hear two things: I’m black and I’m deaf.
And the “deaf” part always overshadows the “black” part.
So, whenever people meet me, and discover I’m a combination of a witty, clever, brilliant, funny, genius-type guy and a sort of normal person, it is always slightly surprising, whether they want to admit it or not.
My speech is perfect.
I have a cochlear implant that gives me near-perfect hearing.
I’m like…
Um.
Like Tom Cruise in the first Mission:Impossible, with the masks…
…Or something.
But anyway, this blog is just sort of not about deaf things.
It’s proof that other things go on in deaf people’s lives other than their deafness.
…Or something.
Somethingsomethingsomething.
Just read, comment, rate, and subscribe.
Thanks.
